Would you say that Shakespeare meant that we wouldn’t recognize another’s happiness as a true or recognizable form of happiness, or that we would covet the other man’s happiness ourselves? Given your photo, I would assume your are suggesting the first choice. 🙂
No, what I think (and at least I interpreted) is that is very sad not to be able to enjoy your own life, but to be obliged to live vicariously through others…
