Cee´s Fun Foto Challenge: Earth

Well….We have arrived to the last of Cee´s Five Chinese Elements Challenge: «Earth»…

We are surrounded by Earth in all its types: clay, mud, rock…But, when I think about Earth, very often I think about excavation…When I think about excavation, I think about Archaeology…And when I think about all together…I finish in Petra…Íts name says all..: it comes from the Greek word πέτρα that means «Stone» …And it is fully excavated and created out of pink sand and stone…

The first view of the city from the Siq is something one can not forget…

Cee´s Fun Photo Challenge: Orange

This challenge has been a bit difficult to me…I went out three days trying to find something orange near by…And, believe it or not, I did not find anything…I came back with a lot of pics about fall…But not what I was looking for, so I decided to dive into my old pics…And, surprise! I found orange….

I have to say NO PHOTOSHOP has been applied to the pictures…..

This is the first one…This summer there were fires everywhere…One of them was not so near (100 km away) but it was so big that the sun turned pink and orange for three days…This is its reflex in the river Bernesga, at 7:00 PM, behind my house…

I really love this pic,…To me is the proof that Nature finds its way to show us its beauty even through the most terrible moments….

Reflection of the Sunset in the Bernesga River, León….

The next one is another sunset…(I love sunsets)…This one at Petra…We were very lucky being almost alone, and the rocks, beautiful by themselves, were even more spectacular at that time of the day…

Sunset at Petra, Jordan…

The third sunset…This time inside of a nice bar, at Tombstone, Az….Because men can  not  live on bread and beauty alone….;) And as we were not on a horse, we were very well served…

Sunset in Tombstone, Az…(;))

Weekly Photo Challenge: «Foreign»

The photo challenge this week is “Foreign”, in a complete sense: outside our nation, outside our culture, outside our history…Even something that is out of place somehow…

I have been thinking about this, and I agree with most of my colleagues…”Foreign” is an absolutely subjective concept…It depends on one´s  age, one´s experience, one´s cultural background…Things that shocked me when I was younger I look now with a smile on my face…

But…Still….I have  found things that I can label as “foreign” to me…

Taking into consideration I am Spanish….In Spain we do not have to pay attention neither to dromedaries…(seen in Egypt)

…Nor to tortoises…I bet there are some, but not big enough to disturb us when driving out…(seen in Turkey)

…As some of you know, I am Basque…But I have never seen on the walls of my city instructions about how to take care of a gun…(seen in West Jerusalem)

This has nothing no do with me being Spanish… We were in Petra, it was August, it was noon…You can imagine…Almost 47º…! And she appeared like that, even with gloves!! (It was 2010; Michael Jackson was no longer among us…)

…And then, back in Jerusalem, I took this shot from the bus, crossing Mea Shearim…I had the feeling we went back in time some years…
